I want to comment on this some time soon - I know I've touched on it before, but I need to keep reminding anyone who reads this blog that the media does NOT have our best interests at heart, nor do beauty product manufacturers for the most part. "Dear Birdie,

I am a woman who is twenty-eight years old, and as flat as a boy. When I was fifteen I kept waiting for my breasts to sprout like all my friends but they never did. I am so tired of people thinking I'm a boy. When I say flat, I mean flat. I think I'm flatter than most men, LOL. I decided to try the Avon Bust Sculpt to see if it would make a difference.

I have been using Bust Sculpt for six weeks now. I purchased two tubes from my local Avon Rep. I am using it three times a day. I actually carry it to work with me and apply it in the restroom during my lunch break! After six weeks, I can say that it has made my breasts slightly swollen, but I can't say that it's noticable with a shirt. My breasts are a bit tender from the constant application. I don't think I will buy this again, but I will use the rest of what I have purchased. I know I need to get to the point where I can accept my body the way it is, but it is hard."

"I bought the Plump and Smooth Lip System a month ago. I am in my late thirties, but my lips have been shrinking the older I get. I thought I would give this a try. It comes in a pen-shaped container. Each end of the pen has a formula that you apply to your lips. I followed the directions and applied both parts twice a day. Within just a few days I could see a difference. The difference isn't huge, but it is enough to keep me buying this product. I have fuller lips now and the color of my lips is more youthful. The product does tingle a bit, which bothered me at first."

"My aunt has sold Avon for thirty-five years, and is one of the top sellers in her district. She bought several demos of the Avon ANEW RETROACTIVE+ Youth Extending Cream and gave one to me to try. At fifty-three years old, I am very conscious of my skin's needs. I have developed some larger pores and fine lines around my mouth and eyes. I gave up smoking ten years ago, but I still have those smoker's lines. The cream my aunt gave me was the Day cream, but I understand there is also a Night cream, too. I have not tried that yet.

I started using the Youth Extending Cream one month ago. I applied it every morning after cleansing and toning my face. My skin is prone to be oily, so I didn't add any other moisturizer. Since the cream is SPF 25, I didn't need to add a sunscreen, as well. It smells nice, almost a light floral scent. I spread it on my face and neck, avoiding the eye area like instructed. It smooths into my very easily. I could tell a difference right away. Within a week my pores had shrunk. Now I have been using the cream a month and my fine lines are smaller, too. I like this cream. It is not too heavy like some others and it does work."

Avon has been heavily promoting Celine's new scent in print, television, and online advertising. You can read a Q a A with Celine, where she explains how she put together "Spring in Paris." The fragrance features notes of musk, vanilla, clementine, and black current among others. Here's Minnie's review:

"Dear Birdie,

I have been an Avon customer for many years. I have been using Avon's Imari as my signature scent ever since it came out. That's nearly twenty years now I think. I have been wanting to find a lighter fragrance for spring and summer, as Imari is more of a winter scent, but I haven't been satisfied with any of Avon's other fragrances. I don't like scents that are overpowering or have too many sweet notes in them.

I decided to try Celine's new fragrance, "Spring in Paris." To tell the truth, I am not much of a Celine Dion fan. She has a beautiful voice, but her music grates on my nerves. This fragrance looked interesting, so I ordered it. Birdie, you can't beat the price of Avon fragrances. I would put my Imari up against any expensive perfume out there in terms of quality. And it costs so much less.

Spring in Paris has a light fragrance. It meshed nicely with my body chemistry. The scent is complex, too, which I like. It doesn't smell cheap or edgy. It just has a gentle sophisticated scent. I didn't find it overpowering at all, and in fact received several nice compliments from the women in my Bridge Club. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a light, sophisticated scent."

"Dear Birdie,

I buy Avon online through avon.com. I am so glad you posted those Avon online coupon codes a while back, they inspired me to start trying Avon. I recently saw the commercials for the Avon Ultra Color Rich Lipstick and decided to try it. I bought one tube in "Cherries Jubilee" which is a nice, dark red color. I have olive skin and the darker tones look so much better on me.

The lipstick glides on my lips easily. It feels really great. Much better than other lipsticks I have been using include expensive ones from Lancome and Estee Lauder. You can't tell it's less expensive than those big brands. It looks and feel extremely luxurious. I think it's the best lipstick I've ever used. My only gripe is that I do have to reapply slightly more often than I would like, but the benefits outweigh this small issue."

I’ve been using Avon for longer than I care to remember.  I’ve actually retired 2 Avon ladies.  My last Avon lady set up her customers with a replacement, but I could never get a hold of her when I needed to – Which was anytime I started getting low on my True Porefection Cleanser.  This is the best product!  I use it twice a day, and it keeps the acne away.  It’s about the best product I’ve found for adult acne, and I love it!  In fact, I love it so much that last November, after running out for the third time since my lady retired, I started selling Avon, just to have a ready supply of it at a good price.  So far that’s working out almost as well as the cleanser itself.  To quote one of your earlier blogs… Avon Rocks!"

I just received the Jillian Dempsey Sheer Glow All Over Face Powder a couple of days ago. I read about Jillian Dempsey in Vanity Fair and had to try out her powder. She's a celebrity makeup artist. I also got her face brush.

I like the powder a lot. It looks very pretty. It comes in a compact with a clear lid. The powder has four colors that are in a flower pattern. It looks really nice and now my best girlfriends wants to get one too. The brush is also very nice and pretty. I like the way the powder looks on my face. It gives me a healthy glow, just like the name says. I don't break out with it which is nice. I think you can use this for day and night. The colors really are pretty and go nice with my skin."

"Dear Birdie,

I just bought the mark Flip For It Spring Color Kit in the Paris Spring Color Kit color set, and it arrived yesterday. Honestly, I didn't expect much from it. I have purchased these types of all-in-one products in the past, and it has been hit and miss. As a full-time student who is interning at two inner city schools in addition to handling student teacher duties, I need products that work great on the go. I have had some great experience with Avon mark products in the past. I especially love the mark skin care items. The mark "Let's Be Clear" has done wonders for my acne-prone skin.

The compact has an elegant look. It is quite nice to hold in your hand. It feels just heavy enough to give you the idea of luxury, but it's not too heavy to drop in your purse. I chose the Paris collection since the earthy neutrals looked like they would match my complexion and my need for some simple non-attention seeking enhancement.

The colors are prettier in person than how they appear on my computer screen. They work well together, and they looked just great when I applied them to my skin and lips. I only have one small complaint. The lip color wears off much too quickly, and I find I need to apply it each time I visit the restroom. That's not a huge problem, but I would prefer something with a bit more staying power. The colors are nice."

My sister is an Avon Rep, and she convinced me to try the ANEW CLINICAL Line and Wrinkle Corrector. At first she gave me a whole box of ten samples. She told me that she read your review before she tried it herself, and when she used it, one month later her eyes had less lines. She looks great. She's three years older than me, but she is starting to look a little younger. Well I can't have that can I?

I only applied the ANEW CLINICAL Line and Wrinkle Corrector to the lines around my eyes. I didn't want to use up all my samples in one week. I could honestly see a difference in two days. When I had two samples left I told my sister I would buy some. That was six months ago and my eyes are so much less lined than they were. I can't believe the difference. My husband noticed, too, and I didn't say anything to him beforehand. This is a miracle product."

It's the deepest richest color I've ever seen in a lipstick. I know I sound like a commercial, but I'm not kidding. It makes my lips look full and glamorous. The color is just something else. If you look closely, you can see this amazing variation in the color. It's like the colors you find in nature. They aren't all just one shade, it's a mix that looks so much more natural. "Hi Birdie!

I've been an Avon Lady since last July...I've been discovering many wonderful products within AVON since joining!  

The one that is truly changing my life is the ANEW Transforming Hand and Nail Cream. Once upon a time, I had gorgeous nails. Seriously. Never needed a French Manicure or polish, although polish was fun now and then. People often thought I had fake nails, but looked closer and realized they were all real!

Then I had a baby. After a year of hand washing all of her bottles/nipples, spoons, bowls, etc. and hand washing all my hardwood floors, my nails disintegrated one at a time.

Eventually, I was left with 3/10 that didn't fall apart, but the rest were a mess. I would file them, polish, use any and all products made for strengthening nails. It was futile, and I probably spent about $500 on stuff that did not work.

I got my demo of the ANEW product, and thought, "Here we go again" but had to try it anyway. Due to the price, I thought I would just use it before bed.

Within the first week, I wasn't filing, trimming, picking on my hands. Three weeks after that, I realized that my nails had not only grown quite a bit, but the nailbed itself was growing back!! For the first time in 5 years, I have white on the ends of all 10 of my fingernails!!  

I'm currently awaiting my C11 order, which includes a few tubes of the best hand cream on earth! I'll have enough in stock to justify using it all the time, all day, every day! As far as price goes, this product is worth the regular price, and I'll be doing a little dance of joy every time it goes on sale! :D

I have been buying Avon products for over thirty-five years. I rarely use anything else. I used to sell Avon but kept buying too many demo items and had to stop. My favorite products are the Anew Clinical Lift and Tuck, Glimmersticks, and Skin So Soft. But my most favorite product is the Naturals Cucumber Melon Body Lotion. I think if I knew it wouldn't harm me, I would drink it because it smells so good! I use it every morning after my shower and all day long I feel soft, fresh, and I smell great. I have had coworkers ask me what my "signature scent" is, and they don't believe me when I tell them it is an inexpensive body lotion. I like that the lotion has natural ingredients, too. My skin really has never looked better. If Avon even thinks about discontinuing this product, I will lead a hunger strike!"

I have to tell you that I was afraid to spend $25 on the new Avon Anew Alternative Intensive Eye Cream. I had some serious dark circles and was getting to the point where I hated looking in the mirror each morning. I would have to apply two layers of under-eye concealer to look even semi-normal. I'm sure I am being picky, but I just didn't feel good about myself with these under-eye bags, puffiness, and dark circles.

I used to use the Avon beComing Pack Your Bags product and found it to be reasonably good, and once it was discontinued I just couldn't find anything else that worked at all. The Anew Clinical Eye Lift didn't do a thing for me. When I saw the ad for the Anew Alternative Intensive Eye Cream, I decided to invest the $25.

The product has a strong smell, but this is my only fault with it. It feels nice when I apply it each morning and evening. Within a week or so, the dark circles looked remarkably lighter, and my puffiness had completely abated. I am absolutely thrilled with this product and feel that the price is extremely fair. A little goes a long way, and it really does work wonders."

"Hi Birdie!  I'm an Avon Rep in Tennessee.  I just had my third anniversary with Avon.  Here's my experience with the Moisture Therapy Skin Bump Minimizer Lotion.

I was SO excited to see the new lotion Avon was offering to minimize the mystery bumps on the backs of my arms and legs. It promises "With exfoliating glycolic and salicylic acids. Gentle exfoliators help the appearance of bumps on the backs of arms and legs. In just one week, flaky skin texture is improved. Suitable for sensitive skin.

I have done everything to get rid of these bumps: moisturized, exfoliated, loofahed 'til I can loofah no more!  I thought I would be stuck with these bumps forever.  I ordered three bottles and impatiently waited for my order to come.

The next day after my shower, I put a bit on my arms and legs and went about my business for the day.  That night, I was shocked to feel that the bumps were already almost gone!  After a few more days of inconsistent use, my arms are as smooth as a baby's bottom!  I will continue to use this product.  I'm so excited that I don't have to be embarrassed about wearing sleaveless tops or a bathing suit this year.

Now, if I could do something about the lumps that hang around my arms and legs when I'm trying to get things done...

"Hi Birdie,

I received the Anew Clinical Plump & Smooth Lip System from Avon with my C4 order on Saturday Feb. 10.  Avon's answer to at home lip injections...The product came as a "Preferred Preview" package, as it will not make it's debut until the C7 brochure.  I have been eagerly awaiting for the arrival of this product.  Over the years, Avon skin care products have treated my thirty something (maybe close to 40)  face like royalty....holding at bay the fine lines and wrinkles that can magically appear from one glance to another.  Though, I have noticed the once full lips I had were now deflating and a crease (or two) on my top lip were now appearing and staying there, of course uninvited.  So, when I first read about the New Anew product you could not stop me from being one of the first to try it at any cost.

Once I dragged my boxes off the front porch and into the house I frantically opened each box until I saw the gray and white box.  I opened it immediately to find a large looking gray and white pen shape applicator.  I examined the "pen" trying to figure which side I should use around my lip and which one to use on my lips.  It clearly states on the "pen":  the white side is for around the lips, leaving the gray side to apply on the lips.  This product gives hope of smoothing out deep vertical lines around the mouth while redefining lip contours and boost collagen for lips that are fuller, plumper and natural lip color is restored.  Oh, I couldn't wait.  Next I had to figure out how the "pen" works......I don't perform well reading directions, so I proceeded to uncap the white side of the "pen".  OK, I said to myself, If I was to create this apparatus how would I release the magical potion inside...hmmmm...twist, yeah, but there is two ends to this "pen".  In the middle of the "pen" the words slide appear.  I slid the sleeve in the middle of the pen towards the gray side and twisted.  I heard a series of clicking noises and the cream poked itself through a pinhead hole on the applicator tip.  I smoothed the cream around my lips.  I repeated the steps with the gray side forcing the cream into my lips.  The package warns you may feel some "tingling" when first applied.  I compare this to medicated blistex, which is very tolerable.  Beauty is vain.  The recommendations are to us in AM and PM.  I have used this product for 2 nights and 2 mornings and  I have noticed a difference.  My creases around my lips have smoothed out and my lips do appear to be fuller.  I have not noticed a color change as of yet, but I am going to give it time.   I give this product two thumbs up and would recommend to my worst enemy (maybe)..

"My wife bought me the Avon Clearskin Overnight Treatment a few months ago. I have a problem with huge zits. These are the kind of zits that people pretend not to notice when they look at you. My wife told me it was Avon or divorce! I hesitated there for a moment. Just kidding. I spread the cream on my face at night time like the product says to do. It smells like medicine a little but it's not so bad. You can't see it after you spread it on you skin. It definitely improved my zit condition. I only have a few left every now and then whereas before I had at least twenty at a time most days. I think my wife might keep me."

Avon Customer Review: ANEW Beauty Age-Transforming Foundation SPF 15

"The first thing you have to understand is that I rarely wear foundation. I don't like how it makes me look like I'm wearing a mask, plus I am prone to breakouts. I got a sample of the ANEW Beauty Age-Transforming Foundation SPF 15 from my regular Avon Rep, Fran. She told me to try it and report back to her and I'm glad I did. I ended up buying a full-size product from Fran. The foundation makes my skin look much smoother and even-toned but you can't tell you're wearing foundation. It doesn't rub off on my collar, which in my work as a waitress is important. The sunscreen in the product is a big plus. I wait tables at an indoor-outdoor cafe in Los Angeles, and that sun can be bright. Another plus is that this foundation really has made my crow's feet a little less visible. I often wait on celebrities, and now I feel like I look like one myself, thanks to Avon."

Avon Customer Review: ADVANCE TECHNIQUES Shaping Gel

"Birdie, I didn't realize it at first, but in my third Tupperware party, which was my last party, and maybe because I was handling so much plastic it made me think of this, but my hair looked and felt kind of plasticy. But on the other hand, unlike the Tupperware products, I'm speaking of lids here, it didn't really hold. I decided, right about the time I left, Tupperware was no bowl of cherries, and that I would drop the Shaping Gel and the whole plastic princess thing as well."

"It has a pleasant smell without smelling like deodorant. It really does last all day long even if you are working in an office setting around a lot of people. So I've gotta say it's an effective product. My only problem with it, and this is true of many anti-perspirants as opposed to deodorants, is that it's actually somewhat hard to remove at the end of the day. Specifically when I'm in the shower, scrubbing my underarms, you actually have to work hard to break through the anti-perspirant to make it go away. I guess that's the price you pay for performance. What's in this stuff, shellac? Just kidding. It's a good product."

"I bought the ANEW ALTERNATIVE Intensive Eye Cream after seeing the TV advertisement. Usually these sorts of commercials don't appeal to me, but I have been looking for a good eye cream and wanted to check it out. I saw on your blog that you liked the cream, so I thought I would try it. It is on the expensive side. It costs $25.00. I know that comparable products at places like Sephora cost a lot more, so I'm not complaining. It's just a lot of money for me. I think you can relate to that, Birdie!

I have been using the Intensive Eye Cream for ten days and it has made a tremendous difference. I was getting dark circles under my eyes from stress and aging and this cream nearly erased them! I am pushing 55 so I'm no spring chicken. My crows feet have also gotten a lot smaller and less deep, too. I like the way it feels when I swipe it around my eyes. It makes my skin very, very soft. It also has evened my skin tone and faded a small liver spot next to my left eye. I really can't say enough great things about this. I'm convinced."

Avon Customer Review: Advance Techniques Intense Repair Damage Repair Treatment

"Birdie, I don't come to your blog every day but I do stop by every time I want to try a new Avon product. I like your honest reviews. I want to give you an honest review now. The Advance Techniques Intense Repair Damage Repair Treatment was something I bought because my hair is dry and brittle from coloring it too many times. I have baby fine hair and have been coloring it from light brown with some gray to an ash blonde. I get it done at the hair salon, and my colorist is good but after putting your hair through this routine every month there's only so much you can do. My hair is cut in a chin-length bob. I sprayed the Avon on my hair just like the bottle said, and it really made my hair much smoother and softer. It coated the strands and I think it's a silicone-type ingredient that does this. So it's not really making my hair healthier but it is making it shinier and softer. I like it."

"Birdie, this is the best hand cream I have ever used. And I have tried a lot of hand creams! The Anew Ultimate Transforming Hand and Nail Cream makes my hands so soft. It takes care of my problem cuticles, too. I always keep a tube in my purse and a tube in my desk at work even though I'm only there once a week. I don't go anywhere without it. I find that it takes care of rough elbows and feet, too. It is expensive and I'm not about to tell my husband how much I spend on it but I won't use any other hand cream."

Avon Customer Review: PLANET SPA Japanese Green Tea & Rice Pearl Facial Cleanser

"The Planet Spa Japanese Green Tea and Rice Pearl Facial Cleanser smells like heaven. It rubs into my skin so smoothly and washes off without a lot of fuss. My face is much more radiant after only a week of use. I think this is a terrific product. I'm just worried Avon is going to discontinue it like it does a lot of the Planet Spa items so I suggest stocking up if you like it, too. I'm having my mom get me six tubes. It just smells so pretty without being overpowering. It is very moisturizing so I don't think I would use this if I had oily skin."

Avon Customer Review: Mark Pro Glimmer Hook Up Lip Powder

"Birdie, I love the Mark Pro Glimmer Hook Up Lip Powder. It comes in the little tubes that connect together, so I hook it up with the Pro Gloss. This product is really neat. It's an actual powder. You dab it over your finished lips and it keeps your lipstick or gloss looking just applied all day long. I have been selling a lot of these to the other girls in my classes at the university. It really does work great. I don't have a boyfriend right now so I can't tell you if you can kiss it off but hopefully I can answer that soon!"

"It leaves my skin feeling very soft, like it has a coating of oil, but it's not greasy at all. With this cold weather we've been having my legs were getting scaly and dry. The Fusions made them touchable and soft again. My husband is thrilled! I will definitely buy this again. I have to add that I'm not crazy about the scent, but my husband likes it. I will try one of the other "flavors" next time."

Avon Customer Review: Clearskin® Balanced Cycle Cleanser/Mask

I asked Lidya, a 17 year-old cheerleader whose mom buys Avon from me, her opinion on the Avon Clearskin Balanced Cycle Cleanser/Mask. Lidya reported a case of acne that seemed worse around "that time of the month."

Here's what Lidya said:

"My mom bought the Clearskin cleanser for me. I like it a lot because you can use it as both a face wash and a mask. I use it as a mask twice a week and let it soak into my skin for five minutes then wash it off. I was using the Nutrogena mask before this and I like the Avon a lot better. My skin doesn't break out as often."

Avon Customer Review: ANEW RETROACTIVE+ Repair Eye Serum

I'm kicking off the new Daily Avon Customer Review with a few notes from one of my own customers, Mrs. Romero. I called her last night to ask what she thinks of the Avon ANEW RETROACTIVE+ Repair Eye Serum, which she purchased two months ago. Avon promises that this product seeks out and stimulates repair of damaged cells before they have a chance to show. It also recharges cellular energy, so aging skin cells act younger and stimulates the repair of damaged skin cells at the molecular level.

Here's what Mrs. Romero said:

"The eye serum made the skin under my eyes feel softer but it didn't reduce the undereye darkness as much as I thought it would. I think it helped the puffiness a little but under my eyes is still darker than I want. I think it took a little of the darkness away. I would be willing to purchase it again when I run out to see if using it longer makes a difference, but only if it is on sale."
